Interview of Albert Finch

Could you introduce yourself a little, talk a bit about your background?

I was born in 1980 in Poland, so as a child I witnessed great political and cultural changes in my country.
My first teacher was my own father - in my opinion - a man gifted in almost every field of art.
He introduced me to photography. Not only to photography.

When, how and why did you begin to make photography?

I’ve started to capture pictures using simple russian analog camera in my mid twenties.
Just to make some nice pictures of my girlfriend. Just to show how I see her. Just for fun I think.

What do you like in this form of expression?

It uses light. I see that as fascinating feature. There’s a great mistery of light in nature.

What are the themes that you like to photograph?

I like women. It's not such a suprise.
Because women are emotions for men. Temples of love and fertility. And they are tempting seeds of evil - sometimes.
Although, I think, I have a little soul of photojournalist in me too.

What are you looking to share through your photography?

Just that what I touch with my sight.

What is your idea of sensuality?

Sensuality is touch. Most basic instinct and primal need.
Even if you touch just through your eyes.

What photographers fascinate and / or inspire you?

Sally Mann, Mecuro B. Cotto, Fox Harvard.

How do you prepare a session of shooting?

Usually it's rather spontaneous.

What (s) camera (s) do you use ?

Mid-format Kiev, couple others analog cameras and digital SLR Nikon.

What (s) techniques do you prefer?

I'm pretty impressed by effects on analog 6x6 film.

How and why did your photography changed?

It is a lot softer than it used to be. People, that I was lucky to meet, change my photography.
It changes constantly.

What brings you the internet media?

It's usefull like every kind of contact with other people and their work.

What do you expect from a website like Sensual Photography?

I'm just glad that someone likes my work. I have no big expectations, but I hope that Sensual Photography will grow like oak tree for a very long time.

What are your plans?

Be happy ;-)

What would you add?

Maybe Sensual Photography needs a little more options that build community. More contact options.
More of common projects, maybe.
